Scenes From a Bridal Show

Bridal Showplace, Knott’s Berry Farm Resort Hotel, Sunday, February 19th

I got to speak, but I also had a booth, so I was doing double-duty. More public speaking was one of my goals this year, and I’m not exactly a natural? I’m still more comfortable one-on-one, but I’m getting the hang of it. I got to speak twice on Sunday, and at the end I wanted to jump on stage and do it again.

There is something in there, though. The focus of my speech was how to stress less when you’re planning your wedding. I know exactly where the stress comes from – and the multiple “wheres” it comes from – and although a lot of it is self-created, a lot of it comes from the uncertainty of not knowing what the hell you’re doing. Or, depending on where you are in the process, not knowing what to do next. How were you supposed to know Wedding World’s byzantine rules if you’ve never done this before?

I talked to one bride yesterday who had picked her venue, but didn’t know how to decorate it. And really worried and stressed about it. And it felt really good to take a few minutes with her and talk about what she can do to do ju-ju up the place, and watch her physically relax. As much as I love getting paid to help couples plan their weddings, I just love helping couples with their weddings. I’m here to serve, 🙂

See you at the end of the aisle,

Liz Coopersmith
