Ask Liz: Are Favors and First Looks Necessary?
Posted: June 8, 2012

Wedding Season is officially here, and I’m taking your questions in my columns this month. So, if you’ve got some, go to the contact page, or post them on Silver Charm Events’ Facebook page.
Dear Liz:
We’re getting down to the wire, and I’ve got to make a decision about wedding favors. It’s such a small thing, but it’s getting frustrating. What are the best favors to give out? Do I need them at all?
Signed,
Favor Flustered

You Will Never See These Again. |
Here’s the thing about favors: they’re like the guest equivalent of bridesmaid dresses. No one is going to use them again. But, just like bridesmaid dresses, you probably want to give them out, anyway. It’s nice to thank people for coming, right? Keep in mind that I’ve never had to throw away food, candy or flowers at the end of the night. Stuff that has your name and wedding date all over it gets left behind. The exception to that would be personalized food or candy! But if you decide not to have favors, I rarely hear guests complain about it. Most of the time, they don’t even notice.
Dear Liz:
Our wedding day schedule is kind of tight, and my photographer told us that we should do a “first look” if we want to save time. I’m not sure I want my fiance to see me before I walk down the aisle, though! Is it really going to save us a lot of time?

See you at the end of the aisle,
