Ask Liz: Okay, What's Next?

Dear Liz:

We’re getting married in April, and I think we are doing good so far. We’ve booked all of our vendors (I think!!).  Right now I am worried about all of the ‘little details’ that need to get done. I’m worried we will forget something?! Is there anything we probably should be working on now?

Signed,

Counting Down

Dear Counting,

I would “circle” back around, and make sure you have systems in place once deadlines and final counts and numbers are due. So, calendar alert all your payments, etc. This is also a good time to start planning or start doing any DIY projects. You know, before the holidays hit and no one is doing anything until the middle of January.

Make sure you have a guest spreadsheet that has everything you need to know and/or tell the hotel. I made a copy of the one I use with my coordination clients for you – http://tinyurl.com/silvercharmguestspreadsheet. Save a copy of it with your own particular info (file>make a copy>new document name>ok), OR export it into your computer as an Excel spreadsheet, and edit it from there.  Once it’s complete, you can send it to your caterer, your venue manager, share it with family and friends when you have to start tracking down RSVP M.I.A.s. It’s also a really useful tool to use when your guests are looking for their place card after the cocktail hour. There are ALWAYS people who can’t find their card. I have my assistant in front of the table with a print out of this spreadsheet to assist them. Highly recommended!

See you at the end of the aisle,
Liz Coopersmith
