#DTLAWedSearch – The Recap

On Saturday, I went with one of my couples downtown to look at four wedding venues. Venue search is included in my full-service coordination package. During the tour, I also posted pictures on Instagram. Here are some highlights :

Skyspace L.A.

Skyspace L.A.

The View.Venue #1 –Skyspace LA, at the top of the U.S. Bank building. My couple wanted a view, and this is the best one in town. The venue itself goes all around the top of the building, so you can get a 360 degree view of the city of Los Angeles, from the Hollywood sign to Dodger stadium to the ocean and beyond. The venue will be under construction through the summer, so cermony space isn’t available in the tower. Skyspace has contracted with the city to hold ceremonies across the street in Maguire Gardens, in front of (behind?) the library. The venue fee for Skyspace starts at $15,000, and you do have to use their list of preferred vendors, for the most part. It’s going to be a showstopper and I can’t wait to see it when it’s all finished.

Venue #2 – City Club L.A. – I knew, the minute I went over there for The Big Fake Wedding, that my couple would definitely like it. 51st floor, great view, several different areas for the party to move around in. Killer vibe at night, stunning during the day. The sun wasn’t in the best position for me to get any great pictures, but I got this one…

They have a great wedding package right now – $20,000 for 120 guests, which includes a bar, appetizers and meals. And, tables and chairs, which isn’t always standard. I was really impressed with everything that comes with that. There is an additional cost for having your ceremony there, too, so if you’re interested, ask about that.

Venue #3 – The Los Angeles Athletic Club

Screen Shot 2016-01-19 at 3.29.08 PMDefinitely old-school Downtown L.A. The last time I coordinated a wedding here was a couple of years ago. As you can see, very dark wood, long curtains, and steeped in tradition. Oh, but the rooftop ceremony area:

Another 360 degree view of awesomeness. The catch is you can only have 130 guests up there, total LAAC is a pretty good deal, too. $20,000 food and beverage minimum, their meal service starts at $90 per person, with bar packages starting at $27 per person, for four hours. The rooftop ceremony is an additional $1500.

440 Seaton

Venue #4 – 440 Seaton. It’s a very large warehouse space that’s been converted into a wedding and event venue. A brick wall blank canvas that you can turn into anything that you want. It’s bare bones, though. They have a limited set of tables and chairs, you have to provide the catering, rentals, all of that. I’ve been hearing about it a lot over the past year, so it seems to be pretty popular. The rental fee is $9300.

It was a really good day, I love visiting venues and figuring out allll the possibilities.  They’re going to make a final decision on their venue and date by tomorrow, and then it’s on to photography, flowers and the rest of the mad dash to planning a wedding in less than six months. Stay tuned. And in the meantime, follow me on instagram @lizcharm.
