Dear Celebrity Bride Guide Readers,

Don’t let the chill of winter rain – or snow – on your wedding day parade. Instead, leverage the innate beauty, romance and fantasy of the season to your advantage. Opt for warmer hues or metallics, plan a luscious menu of comfort foods and hot signature drinks, and treat guests to favors they can snuggle in for extra heat. Not convinced a winter wedding is for you? I tracked down six noted planners and wedding experts to get their take on planning winter-inspired nuptials. Whether you’re looking for ways to keep warm or imbue your special day with winter and holiday theme touches, these pros have got you covered. As for me, bring on the slopes and good cheer, I RSVP yes!

Melissa Phillips, Simply Perfect by Melissa “Brides who are accepting of some creative indoor shots, snowy backgrounds, and chilly temperatures will be the happiest with weddings this time of year. Add faux wraps for the ladies, a warm signature drink, and a savory soup course. My favorite: Use the beautiful decorations that the city, hotels, and public squares have put in place for the holidays in your pictures!

Liz Coopersmith, Silver Charm Events “Stay in touch with the season. Use low, soft lights and candles, lush greens, and rich creams against deep wood walls and tables. I coordinated one wedding a few years ago in an ice skating rink. They served hot chocolate and hot toddies and they had an ice sculpture of an angel in the middle of the rink. Winter weddings can really bring the ‘wow’ factor, when you let them.”
