Tuesday Tip Day – People Moving On Your Wedding Day

Photo: Liz Coopersmith
Location: An Open Invitation

Right now, I am finalizing the timeline for my first wedding of the season, on June 6. For Day-of Coordination, I usually start working on it about a month beforehand. There’s talking to the couple about what’s happening that day, meetings with the venue, and getting all the vendors contact information, before I even get started writing up the timeline.

One of the things that always, always, always comes up is how much time it’s going to take to get everyone – you, your family, your wedding party, the photographer, all of you – from Point A to Point B. Not how far it is from Point A to Point B, but how long it’s going to take for you to get there. Extrapolate from real life. Once you’re dressed, and you’re ready to go, you still have to make sure you have everything you need for the rest of the day, cell phone, keys, purse/wallet. Jacket? Who are you riding with, and what do they have to do? A 15 minute drive to the ceremony site should include the 15-30 minutes it’s going to take for everyone to be ready to step out the door and into the car. Don’t be a hero, don’t count on everyone being super-duper organized and getting out earlier. Manage your expectations NOW, and add that extra 30 minutes into your timeline.

You’re welcome!

See you at the end of the aisle,
